Everyday, no matter the circumstances, there are three main requirements that I make sure to fulfill.
1.) Maintain a positive mindset – I feel that if you’re negative about anything, whether it’s taking out the trash or doing a workout, it makes the task one hundred times more difficult and you hate every second of it. When I maintain a positive perspective on the task at hand not only do I find it to not be as bad, but I notice it seems to go by faster too! By applying this to my fitness and nutrition, it makes it easier to bang out those last few curls or choose to eat the salad instead of the cupcake.
2. Exercise daily – I’m sure you’ve heard just like I have, either from someone you know or a fitness coach on the television “You DON’T need a gym to exercise! Find no excuse!” As often as it’s said, it’s true. I find a way daily to incorporate some sort of fitness into my routine, even if it’s a couple of jumping jacks before I head out the door. If time is an issue, I found that Spartan Race’s “Spartan 30 Challenge” is a great way to work some exercise into your day. I did this month’s Spartan 30 in less than 5 minutes. Check out this months Spartan 30 Challenge.
3. Eating right – Although this one is kind of a given, it’s easy to let it slip from your mind if the wrong food appears on a plate! What they say is 100% true, “What you put in, is what you get out.” I have experienced both sides now; I have put junk in and got junk results. I have put healthy foods in and got great results. I choose the healthy food over the junk now that I have experienced this new side. Not only do I focus on eating right during my day, but I also track my food to get even better results! I use an app called MyFitnessPal to track what I eat as well as my exercise. The app allows me to see how many calories I have per day (I follow as a guide, not as a rulebook) as well as the amount of calories burned through exercise.
These are the three main aspects of my day I focus on. Although they may seem easy, it’s even easier to lose sight of them during the day. We are presented with temptations constantly and it is up to us if we give in to them or if we are able to put them off to see greater benefits in the end.
